We're three guys (TLI, DJ Rob Starr, and Bananahead) that got together about 25 years ago and made a 12" single. About 20 years later, we happened to get together again on a phone call and decided we should remake that song, so we did. That song is "Cresent X" (previously "Slay - Staysail Crescent Mix). These days, we can do things we couldn't do before, which was to be in control of every step in the process; from developing an idea into a song, to mixing, mastering, and even distribution. And, technology now allows us to work together despite the fact we don't all live in the same state.
We also have different styles in music, and what to do with some music is being addressed by using artist aliases for them, so that our million fans (give or take 999,990) don't expect one kind of music and then get confused when something completely different starts playing.
To that end, we used the name "Yabas" to give a vehicle for a reggae song that was actually written back in 1992. Thanks again to technology, we were able to get the vocals done remotely and complete the song. Ain't technology grand? But it wasn't really a "Phyrogene" song, since "Phyrogene" is more of a straight EDM/Club/Breakbeat/Trance music type thing.
